Speaker nói "Tuesday… no, sorry, I mean Thursday." → Đáp án là THURSDAY (từ sau cùng)

Trap 2: Distractor

Speaker đề cập nhiều số/tên, nhưng chỉ 1 là đáp án. Nghe kỹ context.

Trap 3: Spelling letter by letter

B và D, M và N, G và J dễ nhầm. Tập phân biệt âm.

Trap 4: Similar numbers

13 (thirteen) vs 30 (thirty), 14 vs 40, 15 vs 50 — nghe trọng âm!

Trap 5: Contractions

Tour Guide: Welcome to Auburn University at Montgomery! Let me show you around the campus.

As you enter through the main gate — which faces south — you'll see the Main Road stretching straight ahead to the north.

On your right — that's the east side — the first building you'll come to is Clement Hall. That's where the College of Business and the AI program are based. It's a modern three-story building.

Now, if you look across the road — on the west side, directly opposite Clement Hall — you'll see the Taylor Center. That's our student services building where you'll find the cafeteria, bookstore, and student lounge.

Continue walking north along the Main Road. At the very end, you'll reach the Library. It's the largest building on campus and it's open until midnight during exam periods.

Now, between Taylor Center and the Library — so on the west side of the road, about halfway up — there's the Science Building. That's where the computer labs and physics labs are located.

And finally, if you go past the Library and walk behind it to the north, you'll find the Athletic Center with the gymnasium and swimming pool.

Đáp án:

11. Clement Hall (east, first building)

28.3 Practice: Discussion about AI course

Questions 16–20: Choose the correct letter A, B, or C.

16. Why did Tom choose the AI course?

A. His friend recommended it.
B. He saw it advertised online.
C. His professor suggested it.

17. What does Tom find most challenging about the course?

A. The mathematical concepts.
B. The programming assignments.
C. The group projects.

18. How does Sarah feel about using AI tools at work?

A. She thinks they are unnecessary.
B. She finds them helpful but limited.
C. She believes they will replace most jobs.

19. What do both students agree on?

A. AI will create more jobs than it eliminates.
B. AI education should start in primary school.
C. Understanding AI basics is important for everyone.

20. What is Tom planning to do after completing the course?

A. Start his own AI company.
B. Apply for a Master's program.
C. Look for a job in data science.

Transcript:

Tom: Hey Sarah, how's the AI course going for you?

Sarah: Pretty good, actually. I'm learning a lot about machine learning and data analytics. How about you?

Tom: Same here. You know, I'm glad I signed up. A friend of mine told me about a similar course at another school, and I also came across some options online, but actually, it was Professor Kim who pointed me in that direction. He said this particular program had the best practical focus.

Sarah: Makes sense. So what do you find most difficult?

Tom: Honestly? The math is really tough — especially the statistics and linear algebra portions. The programming part — you know, the Python coding — that part is manageable. I actually enjoy the group projects too, even though coordinating schedules can be annoying.

Sarah: I hear you. For me, I'm more interested in how AI is being used in the workplace. At my internship, we use several AI tools for customer service.

Tom: Oh really? How do you find them?

Sarah: They definitely help with routine tasks — like answering common questions and sorting emails. But they're not sophisticated enough to handle complex decisions or creative work. So they're helpful but limited, I'd say.

Tom: That's a fair assessment. Do you think AI will eventually replace most jobs?

Sarah: Not entirely. I think it'll change jobs rather than eliminate them completely. But what we both probably agree on is that everyone should at least understand the basics of how AI works, right?

Tom: Absolutely. Even if you're not going to become an AI engineer, basic AI literacy is becoming essential. Speaking of which, I'm actually thinking about applying for a Master's in AI. There's a great program at AUM in Alabama that I've been looking into.

Sarah: Oh wow, that sounds exciting! Good luck with that.

Đáp án:

✅ C — Tom says "Actually, it was Professor Kim who pointed me in that direction." The mention of "friend" and "website" are distractors.

✅ A — Tom says "The math is really tough — especially statistics and linear algebra." He mentions programming but says "that part is manageable."

✅ B — Sarah says "They definitely help with routine tasks, but they're not sophisticated enough to handle complex decisions."

✅ C — Both say "everyone should at least understand the basics" even if they don't become AI experts.

✅ B — Tom says "I'm actually thinking about applying for a Master's in AI. There's a great program at AUM in Alabama."

BUỔI 29: PICK FROM A LIST + COMPLEX LISTENING

29.2 Practice: What should the team focus on?

Questions 21–22: Choose TWO letters, A–E.

Which TWO areas do the students decide to focus on for their project?

→ A. Customer feedback analysis

→ B. Social media marketing strategy

→ C. Website redesign

→ D. Email campaign optimization

→ E. Competitor pricing analysis

Transcript:

Student 1: OK, so for our marketing project, we need to pick two areas to focus on. There are so many options…

Student 2: Right. What about analyzing customer feedback? We could use sentiment analysis tools.

Student 1: That's a good idea, but I think the professor said another group is already doing that. So let's skip that one.

Student 2: Fair enough. How about social media strategy? That's always relevant.

Student 1: Hmm, I was thinking about that, but I feel like everyone does social media. I'd rather do something more unique.

Student 2: OK then. What about website redesign? We could look at UX improvements and conversion rates.

Student 1: Now that sounds interesting! The company's website is pretty outdated. I think we could make really concrete recommendations. Let's definitely include that.

Student 2: Great. And for the second one… email campaigns? We could analyze their open rates and click-through rates.

Student 1: Actually, you know what might be better? Competitor pricing. We could scrape competitor websites and compare pricing strategies. That would involve data analytics, which the professor loves.

Student 2: Hmm, but do we have access to that data?

Student 1: We can use publicly available information. Plus I know some Python — I could write a script to collect the data.

Student 2: OK, I'm convinced. So it's website redesign and competitor pricing analysis. Let's go with those two.

Đáp án:

✅ C (Website redesign) + E (Competitor pricing analysis)

A — rejected (another group doing it)

B — rejected (too common)

D — considered but replaced by E

⚠️ Trap: Email campaign (D) được đề cập và cân nhắc, nhưng cuối cùng bị thay bằng competitor pricing (E). Phải nghe đến cuối!

Challenges:

→ Main concern is (38)___ — AI systems can contain biases

→ Need for (39)___ — employees must learn to work with AI

→ High initial (40)___ costs for small businesses

Transcript:

Good afternoon, everyone. Today I'd like to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming modern business practices.

First, let's look at the scale of this transformation. According to recent reports, the global AI market is expected to reach 1.8 trillion dollars by 2030 — that's trillion with a T. Currently, approximately 77% of large companies worldwide are either using or exploring AI technologies.

Now, there are three primary ways businesses are implementing AI. The first is through chatbots — these are AI-powered systems that automate routine customer inquiries. Companies like Amazon and Microsoft have deployed chatbots that handle millions of customer questions daily without human intervention.

The second application is predictive analytics. This involves using AI to forecast future trends based on historical data. For example, retailers use predictive analytics to anticipate demand for products, allowing them to optimize their inventory.

The third major application is process automation — using AI to reduce manual, repetitive work. This includes everything from invoice processing to quality control in manufacturing.

The benefits are substantial. Research shows that AI can reduce operational costs by up to 30 percent. It also significantly improves customer satisfaction through faster response times — customers no longer have to wait on hold for 20 minutes to get a simple answer.

However, there are important challenges to consider. The main concern is ethical AI — that is, ensuring that AI systems don't contain biases based on race, gender, or other factors. There's also the need for upskilling — employees must learn new skills to work effectively alongside AI systems. And finally, the high initial investment costs can be prohibitive for small businesses that simply don't have the budget for AI implementation.

Transcript — Section 1:

Agent: Good morning, Montgomery Apartments. How can I help you?

Michael: Hi, I'm looking to rent an apartment. I'd like to get some information, please.

Agent: Of course! Let me take down your details first. What's your full name?

Michael: Michael Richardson. That's R-I-C-H-A-R-D-S-O-N.

Agent: Michael Richardson. And your current address?

Michael: I'm at 158 River Road.

Agent: 158 River Road. Do you have a phone number I can reach you on?

Michael: Yes, it's 334-555-0293.

Agent: 334-555-0293. And an email address?

Michael: Sure, it's michael.richardson@gmail.com. That's richardson, all one word.

Agent: Perfect. When were you looking to move in?

Michael: Ideally, the first of May… actually, no. Could we make it the fifteenth of May? I need a bit more time to sort out my current lease.

Agent: May 15th, no problem. Is there a particular area you'd prefer?

Michael: Yes, I'd like to be near the university — Auburn University at Montgomery, specifically. I'm starting a Master's program there in the fall.

Agent: Great area. How many bedrooms do you need?

Michael: Well, it's just me and my wife, so I was thinking two bedrooms… hmm, but actually, my wife's mother might visit for a few months. Let's say three bedrooms to be safe.

Agent: Three bedrooms, noted. And what's your maximum budget for monthly rent?

Michael: I'd like to keep it under… let me think… I'd say $1,200 maximum. Is that realistic for a three-bedroom near AUM?

Agent: That might be tight, but we do have some options. Do you have any pets?

Michael: Yes, we have one cat. Is that going to be an issue?

Agent: Not at all. Most of our properties are pet-friendly. There's usually a small pet deposit though. And lastly, how did you find out about us?

Michael: I saw a recommendation on Facebook. Well, actually it was on a local community group on Facebook. One of the AUM students recommended you.

Agent: Wonderful. I'll put down "Facebook community group." Let me check what we have available for you…

Transcript — Section 2:

Welcome to the Montgomery City Audio Tour! I'm your virtual guide, and I'll be taking you through some of the most significant landmarks in Alabama's capital city.

Our tour today will take approximately three hours if you visit all the stops, though of course you're free to spend as much or as little time as you like at each location.

Let's start at City Hall, which is located on the north side of Main Street — that's position C on your map. It's a beautiful building that dates back to 1936.

Now, if you walk east along Main Street for about five minutes, you'll come to the Rosa Parks Museum on your right — that's position E on the map. This museum commemorates the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955. It's open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Please note that it's closed on Mondays and Sundays, but Mondays is the regular closing day.

Continuing south from the museum for about ten minutes, you'll reach the Riverwalk area — position G on your map. This area along the Alabama River has been completely transformed in recent years. The city invested heavily in renovating the waterfront, and now it's packed with new restaurants, cafes, and entertainment venues. It's particularly lovely in the evening.

From the Riverwalk, head north and slightly west, and you'll see the Alabama State Capitol building — it's at position B, on the hill overlooking the city. Tours of the Capitol are available every day, and the best part — they're completely free of charge. No tickets needed, just show up.

The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is a bit further out — it's at position H, to the northeast of downtown. You can take a bus, but honestly, the entire downtown area is quite compact, so I'd recommend exploring on foot. Walking is really the best way to experience the city — you'll discover little shops and restaurants that you'd miss from a car window.

→ 28. Food & restaurant sector ___

→ 29. Real estate sector ___

→ 30. Manufacturing sector ___

Transcript — Section 3:

Lisa: Hey James, how's the research project coming along?

James: Pretty well, actually. I've finished compiling the survey data. We ended up getting responses from 100 small businesses — which is great. I was worried we might only get 50 or 75, but the final count is exactly 100.

Lisa: That's excellent! So what did the data show?

James: Well, the most surprising finding was about revenue. Businesses that had adopted AI tools reported revenue increases of about 40 percent compared to those that hadn't. I honestly didn't expect such a dramatic difference.

Lisa: Wow, 40 percent! That's significant. Which sectors were most interesting?

James: Let me go through them. The retail sector was interesting because they adopted AI the earliest — some of them have been using recommendation engines and chatbots for over five years now. Position A for retail.

Lisa: Makes sense. And healthcare?

James: Healthcare had the highest return on investment — position C. They used AI for diagnostics and patient scheduling, and the efficiency gains were remarkable. Some clinics reduced wait times by 60 percent.

Lisa: What about food and restaurants?

James: The restaurant industry was the most resistant to change — position D. Most restaurant owners said they didn't see how AI could help their business. Only about 15 percent had tried any AI tools.

Lisa: That's surprising. And real estate?

James: Real estate companies used AI mainly for customer service — chatbots on their websites, automated email responses, virtual tours. So that's position F.

Lisa: And manufacturing?

James: Manufacturing uses AI primarily for inventory management — tracking stock levels, predicting supply needs. That's position G.

Lisa: Great analysis. Now, did we have any problems during the research?

James: The biggest challenge was getting businesses to participate. Many of them refused — they were either too busy or suspicious about sharing business data with students. We had to reach out to nearly 300 businesses to get our 100 responses.

Lisa: Right. When's our final presentation, by the way?

James: It's next Thursday — March 27th. Professor Kim moved it from Tuesday to Thursday because he has a conference on Tuesday.

Lisa: OK, so we need to finalize our slides by Wednesday night at the latest.

Good afternoon, everyone. Today's lecture focuses on how digital technology has fundamentally transformed the education sector over the past three decades.

Let me start with a brief history. The first fully online university course was offered back in 1994 — that's over 30 years ago now. At that time, very few people took it seriously. Fast forward to 2020, and the landscape had changed dramatically. By that year, online enrollment had reached approximately 220 million students globally — a staggering number that was accelerated, of course, by the global pandemic.

Now, I'd like to describe what I call the three phases of educational technology, or EdTech.

The first phase, which I call "digitization," involved simply converting existing materials to digital format. Universities created basic websites, professors started communicating with students via email, and course materials were uploaded as PDF documents. It was essentially taking the traditional model and putting it online — nothing revolutionary.

The second phase was the development of Learning Management Systems, or LMS platforms. The most well-known of these are Moodle and Canvas. These platforms allowed for a much more structured online learning experience — students could access lecture recordings, submit assignments, participate in discussion forums, and take quizzes all in one place.

We're now entering the third phase, which is perhaps the most exciting: AI-powered personalized learning. This is where artificial intelligence adapts the learning experience to each individual student's needs, strengths, and weaknesses. If a student struggles with statistics, the system provides additional practice problems. If they excel at programming, it moves them to more advanced material.

The benefits of this digital transformation are substantial. First and foremost, students can learn at their own pace — they're no longer forced to keep up with or wait for the rest of the class. Second, it significantly reduces education costs — some studies suggest savings of up to 60 percent compared to traditional classroom-based education, mainly through reduced infrastructure and travel costs. Third, it provides access to students in remote areas who might otherwise have no access to quality education — think about rural villages in developing countries.

However, there are significant challenges. The most pressing is the digital divide — the gap between those who have reliable internet access and those who don't. In many developing countries, fewer than 30 percent of households have broadband internet. There's also the difficulty of maintaining student engagement and motivation in an online environment. Without the physical presence of classmates and instructors, many students struggle to stay focused and complete their courses.

Welcome to the Montgomery Museum of History and Culture. Let me guide you through our facilities.

As you enter through the main entrance on the south side, you'll find yourself in our grand lobby. To your right — that's the east wing — is our permanent Ancient History Gallery, featuring artifacts from Native American civilizations.

To your left, in the west wing, we have our current temporary exhibition, which this month focuses on the Civil Rights Movement. This exhibition changes every three months, so do check our website for updates.

Walking straight ahead from the lobby, through the central corridor, you'll reach the Lecture Room. This is where we hold our weekly talks and workshops — every Saturday at 2 PM. This month's topic is "The History of AI: From Turing to ChatGPT" — which should be fascinating.

If you take the stairs or elevator to the second floor and head east, you'll find our Art Collection — featuring paintings and sculptures from Alabama artists spanning three centuries.

And finally, in the basement, we have our state-of-the-art Digital Theater, where we screen historical documentaries throughout the day.

Now, some practical information. On the ground floor, you'll find a gift shop near the exit — we have some wonderful books and souvenirs. There's also an audio guide desk right next to the lobby where you can rent a guided audio tour for $5. We don't have a restaurant on-site, but there's a lovely cafe just across the street.

Please remember: no food or drinks are allowed inside the galleries — we need to protect our artifacts. Photography is actually fine in most areas, but please don't use flash. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the galleries.

Oh, and one more thing — admission is normally $12 for adults, but on the first Sunday of every month, entry is completely free for everyone. So if you know anyone who wants to visit, tell them to come on a Sunday!

Transcript — Section 3:

Anna: OK David, we really need to get organized with our dissertation. The deadline is coming up fast.

David: You're right. So first, let's confirm our topic. We're looking at how AI tools like ChatGPT and analytics platforms are changing digital marketing strategies, right?

Anna: Yes, that's right. Professor Kim liked our proposal but suggested we narrow it down to SMEs — small and medium enterprises — rather than trying to cover large corporations too. He said it would be more manageable and more original.

David: Good point. So, AI in digital marketing analytics for SMEs. How are we going to collect our primary data?

Anna: I think an online survey would be the most practical approach. We can distribute it through LinkedIn and industry groups. Face-to-face interviews would be great but way too time-consuming.

David: Agreed. Now, let me check the timeline. The literature review is due by mid-April — the 15th, to be specific. Then we need to have our survey distributed by the end of April — April 30th. Data analysis should be done by May 10th at the latest. And the final submission is May 25th.

Anna: That's tight but doable. What about the data analysis software? Should we use SPSS?

David: I was thinking about that. Actually, let's use Python — it's more flexible and I've been learning it in my data analytics course at MindX. We can use pandas for data manipulation and matplotlib for visualizations.

Anna: OK, I trust your judgment on that. How should we divide the work?

David: I think the best approach is to split by research area rather than by chapters. I'll handle the qualitative analysis — looking at case studies and interview data if we get any. You take the quantitative side — the survey data, statistical analysis, and charts.

Anna: That works for me. I'm better with numbers anyway.

THE FUTURE OF WORK IN THE AGE OF AI

Current situation:

→ AI could automate (31) ___________% of current work activities

→ The World Economic Forum predicts (32) ___________ million new jobs by 2030

Three types of jobs affected:

→ 1. Jobs that will be (33) ___________ — routine manual and data processing tasks

→ 2. Jobs that will be (34) ___________ — working alongside AI tools

→ 3. Entirely new (35) ___________ — jobs that don't exist today

Skills needed:

→ (36) ___________ thinking — analyzing and evaluating information

→ Digital (37) ___________ — understanding how to use AI tools

→ (38) ___________ intelligence — understanding human emotions (AI cannot do this)

What workers should do:

→ Embrace (39) ___________ learning — continuously update skills

→ Focus on uniquely (40) ___________ capabilities that AI cannot replicate

Transcript — Section 4:

Today I want to address what is perhaps the most pressing question in modern economics: How will artificial intelligence change the future of work?

Let me start with some numbers. According to McKinsey Global Institute research, AI and automation could potentially automate approximately 45 percent of current work activities. That's nearly half of everything workers do today. Now, before you panic, let me be clear — this doesn't mean 45 percent of jobs will disappear. It means 45 percent of tasks within jobs could be done by machines.

In fact, the World Economic Forum predicts that AI will actually create 97 million new jobs by 2030. So the net effect may be positive, though the transition will certainly be challenging.

I'd like to categorize the impact into three types of jobs. First, there are jobs that will be eliminated — these are primarily routine manual tasks and routine data processing tasks. Think about factory assembly line workers, data entry clerks, and basic accounting functions. These roles involve repetitive, predictable activities that AI can perform more efficiently.

Second, there are jobs that will be augmented — meaning workers will use AI as a tool to enhance their performance. Doctors using AI for diagnosis, marketers using AI for customer analytics, lawyers using AI for document review. In these roles, the human isn't replaced — they work alongside AI tools to be more effective.

Third, and most excitingly, there will be entirely new roles — jobs that don't exist today. AI ethicists, prompt engineers, human-AI interaction designers, AI trainers. These are careers that our current students might pursue but that nobody imagined ten years ago.

So what skills will be needed in this new landscape? Three categories stand out. First, critical thinking — the ability to analyze and evaluate information rather than just memorize it. AI can retrieve information, but humans need to assess its reliability and relevance.

Second, digital literacy — not necessarily coding, but understanding how to use AI tools effectively. This is why programs like the Master's in Artificial Intelligence at universities like AUM are becoming so popular — they teach professionals to work with AI, not against it.

Third, and perhaps most importantly, emotional intelligence — the ability to understand and manage human emotions, build relationships, show empathy. This is something AI simply cannot replicate, and it will become an increasingly valuable competitive advantage in the job market.

My advice to anyone concerned about their career? Two things. First, embrace lifelong learning — the days of learning one skill and using it for 40 years are over. You must continuously update your skills throughout your career. Second, focus on uniquely human capabilities — creativity, empathy, leadership, complex problem-solving. These are the qualities that will keep you relevant no matter how advanced AI becomes.
