→ Nếu không hiểu câu hỏi → "Sorry, could you rephrase that?"

1.2 CÁC TOPIC CHI TIẾT

TOPIC 1: WORK & JOB (Công việc)

Từ vựng cần nhớ:

Câu hỏi + Bài mẫu:

Q1: What do you do for a living?

(Bạn làm nghề gì?)

✅ Model Answer (Band 6.5):

I work as an Online Marketing Leader at CareerLink, which is one of the largest job search platforms in Vietnam. I've been in this role for about 14 years now, and I really enjoy it because I get to combine creativity with data analytics.

Q2: How long have you been doing this job?

(Bạn làm công việc này bao lâu rồi?)

✅ Model Answer (Band 6.5):

I've been working at CareerLink for about 14 years now. I started right after finishing my IT diploma, and over the years I've grown from a junior marketer to a team leader. It's been quite a journey.

Q3: What do you enjoy most about your work?

(Bạn thích điều gì nhất ở công việc?)

✅ Model Answer (Band 6.5):

What I enjoy most is the problem-solving aspect. Every day brings different challenges — from analyzing SEO data to optimizing marketing campaigns. I find it really rewarding when I can use data to make better business decisions.

Q4: Would you like to change your job in the future?

✅ Model Answer (Band 6.5):

Actually, I'm planning to pursue a Master's degree in AI in the United States next year. I don't want to completely change my career, but rather upgrade my skills. I believe combining my marketing experience with AI knowledge will open up exciting new opportunities.

Q5: Do you prefer working alone or in a team?

(Bạn thích làm một mình hay nhóm?)

✅ Model Answer (Band 6.5):

I'd say I enjoy both, but if I had to choose, I'd lean towards teamwork. In my experience, collaborating with others often produces better results because you get different perspectives. Having said that, I do need some quiet time alone for tasks that require deep concentration, like data analysis.

→ Fluency: Nói trôi chảy, có linking words (actually, having said that, in my experience)

→ Vocabulary: Dùng từ nâng cao (rewarding, problem-solving aspect, deep concentration)

→ Grammar: Mix câu đơn + phức (if I had to choose, because you get different perspectives)

→ Coherence: Mỗi câu trả lời có Answer + Reason + Detail

Câu hỏi + Bài mẫu:

Q1: Where are you from?

(Bạn đến từ đâu?)

✅ Model Answer:

I'm from Ho Chi Minh City, which is the largest and most dynamic city in Vietnam. It's a bustling metropolis with over 10 million people, famous for its amazing street food, vibrant nightlife, and rapid economic growth. I've lived there my entire life.

Q2: What do you like about your city?

(Bạn thích gì ở thành phố?)

✅ Model Answer:

What I love most about HCMC is the food culture. You can find incredible dishes at every corner — from a 50-cent bowl of pho to high-end restaurants. The city also has a very entrepreneurial spirit. There are always new businesses and startups popping up, which makes it exciting to live here.

Q3: Has your city changed much in recent years?

✅ Model Answer:

Absolutely, it has changed dramatically. When I was growing up, there were mostly small houses and narrow streets. Now there are modern skyscrapers, shopping malls, and a metro system under construction. The infrastructure has improved a lot, though traffic congestion remains a major problem.

Q4: Would you prefer to live in the city or the countryside?

(Bạn thích sống thành phố hay quê?)

✅ Model Answer:

I'd prefer to live in a city, to be honest. I'm used to the convenience of urban life — everything is within reach, from hospitals to shopping centers. However, I do appreciate the peace and quiet of the countryside. In fact, we're planning to move to Alabama in the US, which is much quieter than HCMC, so it'll be interesting to experience a slower pace of life.

Q1: Do you live in a house or an apartment?

✅ Model Answer:

I currently live in a 50-square-meter apartment in Ho Chi Minh City with my wife and our three-year-old daughter. It's quite compact, but we've made it cozy and comfortable. The best thing about it is its convenient location — it's close to both my workplace and my daughter's school.

Q2: What is your favorite room?

✅ Model Answer:

I'd say my favorite room is the living room because that's where our family spends the most time together. In the evenings, I usually sit there studying English or working on my data analytics course, while my wife plays with our daughter. It's a small space, but it's full of warmth.

Q3: Would you like to move to a different home?

✅ Model Answer:

Yes, actually. We're planning a major move — not just to a different home, but to a different country! I'm hoping to study in Alabama, USA next year, where we'll be staying near my wife's sister. It'll be quite a change from our small apartment in HCMC to a house in a quiet American town.

(Vâng, thực ra chúng tôi đang lên kế hoạch di chuyển lớn — không chỉ đổi nhà mà đổi cả nước! Tôi hy vọng học ở Alabama, Mỹ năm tới, sẽ ở gần chị vợ. Sẽ rất khác khi từ căn hộ nhỏ ở TPHCM sang nhà ở thị trấn yên tĩnh Mỹ.)

Ex: We rely heavily on cloud computing.

Câu hỏi + Bài mẫu:

Q1: How often do you use technology?

✅ Model Answer:

I use technology practically all day, every day. As a digital marketer, my entire work revolves around technology — I use Google Analytics to track website performance, Python scripts for data automation, and various SEO tools to optimize content. Even outside of work, I use apps like Anki for studying English vocabulary.

(Tôi dùng công nghệ hầu như cả ngày, mỗi ngày. Là dân marketing số, công việc xoay quanh công nghệ — Google Analytics, Python, SEO tools. Ngoài giờ làm, tôi dùng Anki học từ vựng tiếng Anh.)

Q2: What is your favorite gadget?

✅ Model Answer:

I'd have to say my laptop is my most essential gadget. It's basically my entire office in one device — I use it for everything from writing content to running data analyses. I also love my smartphone for its convenience, especially for reading BBC News during my commute.

Q3: Do you think we use too much technology?

✅ Model Answer:

That's an interesting question. I think it depends on how you use it. Technology is incredibly powerful for learning and working — for instance, I'm currently studying data analytics entirely online. However, I do think many people, especially young people, spend too much time on social media, which can negatively affect their mental health and real-life relationships.

Q4: How has technology changed the way you work?

✅ Model Answer:

It has completely transformed my work. When I first started at CareerLink 14 years ago, most marketing was done manually — writing reports by hand, sending individual emails. Now, I use AI-powered tools to automate content production, analyze millions of data points, and make real-time decisions. I'd say technology has made me at least five times more productive.

(Công nghệ đã thay đổi hoàn toàn công việc. Khi mới bắt đầu 14 năm trước, marketing chủ yếu thủ công. Giờ tôi dùng AI tự động hóa content, phân tích hàng triệu điểm dữ liệu, quyết định theo thời gian thực. Công nghệ giúp tôi năng suất gấp 5 lần.)

Q5: What technology do you think will be important in the future?

✅ Model Answer:

I strongly believe artificial intelligence will be the most transformative technology of the next decade. That's actually one of the main reasons I'm planning to study an AI Master's program in the US. AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, education, business, and virtually every aspect of our lives.

(Tôi tin chắc AI sẽ là công nghệ biến đổi nhất thập kỷ tới. Đó cũng là lý do tôi lên kế hoạch học thạc sĩ AI ở Mỹ. AI có tiềm năng cách mạng hóa y tế, giáo dục, kinh doanh, và mọi khía cạnh cuộc sống.)

TOPIC 5: DAILY ROUTINE (Thói quen hàng ngày)

Q: What is your typical daily routine?

✅ Model Answer:

I'm quite an early bird — I usually wake up around 5:30 AM. I start with 10 minutes of meditation, followed by 30 minutes of English study using Anki flashcards and BBC podcasts. Then I get ready for work. My workday at CareerLink runs from 8 AM to 6 PM. In the evenings, I spend about an hour on my data analytics course and some quality time with my wife and daughter before going to bed around 10:30.

💡 Từ vựng: wake up early = dậy sớm, early bird = người dậy sớm, meditation = thiền, flashcards = thẻ ghi nhớ, quality time = thời gian chất lượng

Q: Would you like to change your daily routine?

✅ Model Answer:

Yes, I'd love to incorporate more exercise into my routine. Right now, I spend most of my day sitting at a computer, which isn't great for my health. I'm planning to start swimming twice a week — swimming is actually recommended for my body type according to my health assessment. Also, when I move to Alabama, my entire routine will change dramatically, which is both exciting and nerve-wracking.

💡 Từ vựng: incorporate = kết hợp vào, assessment = đánh giá, nerve-wracking = hồi hộp lo lắng

TOPIC 6: HOBBIES & FREE TIME (Sở thích)

Q: What do you do in your free time?

✅ Model Answer:

I'm quite passionate about learning new things. Currently, I spend most of my free time studying English and data analytics. When I need to unwind, I enjoy watching TED Talks — they're both educational and entertaining. I'm also a big fan of reading, particularly self-help books like Atomic Habits and Thinking Fast and Slow.

💡 Từ vựng: passionate about = đam mê, unwind = thư giãn, educational = mang tính giáo dục, self-help = phát triển bản thân

Q: Have you taken up any new hobbies recently?

✅ Model Answer:

Actually, yes. I've recently started learning Python programming, which I find surprisingly enjoyable. It's not exactly a traditional hobby, but the problem-solving aspect is quite addictive. I also began listening to BBC 6 Minute English podcasts daily, which has helped improve my listening skills significantly.

💡 Từ vựng: taken up = bắt đầu (sở thích mới), addictive = gây nghiện, significantly = đáng kể

TOPIC 7: FOOD & COOKING (Ẩm thực)

Q: What is your favorite food?

✅ Model Answer:

I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese pho — it's our national dish and I literally grew up eating it. What I love about pho is the complexity of the broth, which is simmered for hours with beef bones and aromatic spices. My wife makes an incredible homemade version, though I have to admit the best pho I've ever had was at a tiny street stall near my childhood home.

💡 Từ vựng: complexity = sự phức tạp, broth = nước dùng, simmered = hầm, aromatic spices = gia vị thơm, street stall = quầy hàng đường phố

Q: Can you cook?

✅ Model Answer:

I can cook basic dishes, but I'm no chef by any means! My wife is the cook in our family — she's amazing at Vietnamese cuisine. However, I'm trying to learn because when we move to the US, I want to be able to cook Vietnamese food for my family. I think cooking is actually a valuable life skill, especially when living abroad.

💡 Từ vựng: by no means = không phải là, cuisine = ẩm thực, life skill = kỹ năng sống

TOPIC 8: TRAVEL (Du lịch)

Q: Do you like traveling?

✅ Model Answer:

Absolutely! I've been fortunate enough to visit about 10 countries in Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and several others. Each trip has broadened my perspective and given me a deeper appreciation for different cultures. I'm particularly excited about my upcoming trip to Alabama — it'll be my first time in the United States.

💡 Từ vựng: fortunate = may mắn, broadened my perspective = mở rộng tầm nhìn, appreciation = sự trân trọng, upcoming = sắp tới

Q: What is your most memorable trip?

✅ Model Answer:

I'd have to say my trip to Japan was the most memorable. I was blown away by how clean and organized everything was. The blend of ancient temples and cutting-edge technology was fascinating. The food was incredible too — I still dream about the ramen in Tokyo! That trip really inspired me to think bigger about my career and eventually pursue education abroad.

💡 Từ vựng: blown away = ấn tượng mạnh, blend = sự pha trộn, cutting-edge = tiên tiến nhất, inspired = truyền cảm hứng

TOPIC 9: WEATHER & SEASONS (Thời tiết)

Q: What's the weather like in your city?

✅ Model Answer:

Ho Chi Minh City has a tropical climate, so it's hot and humid for most of the year, with temperatures typically ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. We basically have two seasons: the dry season from December to April, and the rainy season from May to November. The rainy season can be quite intense — we get sudden, heavy downpours almost every afternoon.

Q: Do you check the weather forecast?

✅ Model Answer:

Yes, I check it regularly, especially during the rainy season. The weather in HCMC can be quite unpredictable — it might be sunny in the morning and pouring rain by lunchtime. I'm actually curious about the weather in Alabama, because I've heard they have tornadoes, which is something we never experience in Vietnam!

💡 Từ vựng: forecast = dự báo, unpredictable = khó đoán, pouring rain = mưa xối xả, tornado = lốc xoáy

TOPIC 10: FUTURE PLANS & AMBITIONS (Kế hoạch tương lai)

Q: What are your plans for the future?

✅ Model Answer:

I have a very clear plan for the next few years. First, I'm going to complete my Bachelor's degree at HUTECH this June. Then, I plan to apply for a Master's in Artificial Intelligence at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama. My ultimate goal is to build a career in AI in the United States and eventually settle down there with my family. It's ambitious, but I believe with 14 years of professional experience, I have a strong foundation to build on.

💡 Từ vựng: ultimate goal = mục tiêu cuối cùng, settle down = ổn định, ambitious = tham vọng, foundation = nền tảng

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

✅ Model Answer:

In five years, I hope to have completed my Master's degree and be working as a data scientist or AI specialist at a tech company in the US. I imagine my daughter Mẫn Nhi will be attending elementary school in Alabama, growing up bilingual. My wife and I dream of providing her with the best education and opportunities possible. On a personal level, I also hope to have achieved a level of financial stability that allows us to live comfortably.

💡 Từ vựng: bilingual = song ngữ, financial stability = ổn định tài chính, comfortably = thoải mái

JOLIE IELTS LEVEL 2 — SPEAKING FULL COURSE

Soạn chi tiết cho — 03/2026
Buổi 1–9 + Phụ lục A (100 câu hỏi Part 1)

PHỤ LỤC B: 30 CUE CARDS PART 2 + BÀI MẪU BAND 6.5

Mỗi cue card có: Đề bài (Anh–Việt) + Bài mẫu (~180–220 words, ~1.5–2 phút) + Từ vựng nổi bật

CUE CARD 1: Describe a person who has influenced you.

You should say:
– Who this person is
– How you know them
– What they have done
– And explain why they have influenced you

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about my wife, Thanh Hoa, who has been the biggest influence in my life.

We've been together for over 10 years now, and she has supported me through every important decision I've ever made. She works as an administrative officer at a vocational school, and despite having her own busy career, she always puts our family first.

What really inspires me about her is her incredible resilience and quiet strength. When I told her about my plan to pursue a Master's degree in the US, most people would have been worried or even opposed to such a risky decision — leaving a stable job, moving to another country with a young child. But Thanh Hoa didn't hesitate. She immediately started researching schools, even flew to the US to visit her sister in Alabama to scout the area for us.

She's also an amazing mother to our daughter Mẫn Nhi. Watching her balance work, family, and supporting my dreams has taught me that true strength isn't about doing everything alone — it's about being a team.

Overall, Thanh Hoa has influenced me to be braver, more ambitious, and more grateful for what I have. I honestly don't think I would have the courage to pursue this Master's program without her unwavering support.

💡 Từ vựng nổi bật: resilience (sức bền bỉ), unwavering support (ủng hộ không lay chuyển), scout (khảo sát), balance (cân bằng), courage (can đảm)

CUE CARD 2: Describe a teacher who has had a positive impact on you.

You should say:
– Who the teacher is
– What subject they taught
– How they taught
– And explain why they had a positive impact

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to describe my data analytics instructor at MindX Technology School.

His name is Minh, and he teaches a comprehensive data analytics course that covers Python, SQL, and data visualization. What sets him apart from other teachers I've had is his practical, hands-on approach to teaching. Instead of just lecturing about theory, he assigns real-world projects that simulate actual business problems.

For example, one project required us to analyze a real dataset from an e-commerce company to identify customer purchasing patterns and make recommendations for marketing strategy. This was incredibly relevant to my work at CareerLink, and I was able to immediately apply what I learned to improve our SEO campaigns.

What I appreciate most about him is his patience. As someone in my mid-thirties returning to study, I sometimes felt insecure about learning alongside younger students. But he always encouraged me, saying that my 14 years of industry experience was actually an advantage — I could connect the technical concepts to real business scenarios.

His teaching style has given me the confidence to pursue a Master's degree in AI in the US. He showed me that it's never too late to learn new skills, and that age can be a strength, not a weakness.

Từ vựng nổi bật: hands-on approach (cách tiếp cận thực hành), simulate (mô phỏng), insecure (thiếu tự tin), industry experience (kinh nghiệm ngành), it's never too late (không bao giờ là quá muộn)

CUE CARD 3: Describe a memorable trip you have taken.

You should say:
– Where you went
– When you went
– What you did there
– And explain why it was memorable

(Mô tả một chuyến đi đáng nhớ.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about my trip to Japan, which I took about three years ago. It was a week-long vacation with my wife, and it remains one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

We visited Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. What struck me most about Japan was the incredible contrast between ultra-modern technology and ancient traditions. In Tokyo, we explored Akihabara, the famous electronics district, and Shibuya Crossing, which felt like stepping into a sci-fi movie. The very next day, we visited the Senso-ji temple in Asakusa, which dates back to the 7th century.

The food was absolutely outstanding. I still dream about the ramen in a tiny shop in Shinjuku — it was the most flavorful broth I've ever tasted. We also tried authentic sushi at Tsukiji Market, which was a completely different experience from sushi in Vietnam.

What made this trip particularly special was that it opened my eyes to possibilities beyond Vietnam. Seeing how a country could be so technologically advanced while preserving its cultural heritage inspired me to think bigger about my career. It was actually during this trip that I first seriously considered studying abroad.

Looking back, Japan taught me that stepping outside your comfort zone leads to personal growth. It's one of the main reasons I'm now pursuing education in the US.

Từ vựng nổi bật: ultra-modern (siêu hiện đại), contrast (sự tương phản), sci-fi (khoa học viễn tưởng), flavorful broth (nước dùng đậm đà), stepping outside your comfort zone (bước ra khỏi vùng an toàn)

CUE CARD 4: Describe a time you had to make a difficult decision.

You should say:
– What the decision was
– When you made it
– What options you had
– And explain how you felt after making the decision

(Mô tả lần bạn phải đưa ra quyết định khó khăn.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

The most difficult decision I've had to make recently is whether to leave my stable career in Vietnam to pursue a Master's degree in the United States.

This decision has been on my mind for about a year now. On one side, I have a secure position at CareerLink where I've worked for 14 years, a comfortable apartment, and a familiar life. On the other side, there's the dream of advancing my career in AI, providing better opportunities for my daughter, and experiencing life in America.

The financial aspect was particularly challenging. Studying in the US costs around $30,000 to $50,000, and we considered selling our land in Long An to fund it. My wife and I had many late-night discussions about the risks involved — what if I can't find a job after graduating? What if our daughter doesn't adapt?

What helped me decide was a combination of factors: my wife's sister living in Alabama provides family support, the STEM OPT program gives me three years to find work, and my 14 years of experience makes me a strong candidate in the job market.

After making the decision to go ahead, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. But mostly, I felt a sense of purpose — like I was finally taking a step toward the future I've always wanted for my family.

Từ vựng nổi bật: on my mind (trong đầu), secure position (vị trí an toàn), familiar (quen thuộc), late-night discussions (thảo luận khuya), sense of purpose (cảm giác có mục đích)

CUE CARD 5: Describe a skill you learned recently.

You should say:
– What the skill is
– How you learned it
– Why you decided to learn it
– And explain how useful it has been

(Mô tả kỹ năng bạn học gần đây.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about Python programming, which I started learning about six months ago through a Data Analytics course at MindX Technology School.

The course covers Python basics, data manipulation with pandas, SQL database queries, and data visualization. I typically study in the evenings after work, spending about one to two hours going through video lessons, coding exercises, and hands-on projects.

The main reason I decided to learn Python is that I'm planning to pursue a Master's in Artificial Intelligence in the US. I realized that having programming skills would not only help me get accepted but also give me a significant advantage during the program. Additionally, Python is the most widely used language in AI and data science, so it's an investment in my future career.

What surprised me is how immediately useful this skill has been in my current job. For instance, I recently wrote a Python script that automates our content production workflow at CareerLink — a process that used to take my team several hours now takes just minutes. I also used Python to scrape competitor websites for SEO analysis, which gave us valuable market intelligence.

Overall, learning Python has been one of the most rewarding decisions I've made. It's opened up a whole new world of possibilities and given me confidence that I can succeed in a technology-focused Master's program.

Từ vựng nổi bật: data manipulation (xử lý dữ liệu), hands-on projects (dự án thực hành), significant advantage (lợi thế đáng kể), automate (tự động hóa), market intelligence (thông tin thị trường)

CUE CARD 6: Describe a piece of technology you find useful.

You should say:
– What it is
– How often you use it
– What you use it for
– And explain why you find it useful

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about my laptop, which is arguably the most essential piece of technology in my life.

I use it literally every single day, both for work and personal development. At my job, it's my primary tool for managing SEO campaigns, analyzing website data through Google Analytics, writing Python scripts for automation, and communicating with my team. In the evenings, I use it for studying — watching online courses, practicing IELTS exercises, and researching universities in the US.

What makes my laptop particularly useful is its versatility. It's essentially my entire office compressed into a single portable device. Before I had a good laptop, I was tied to a desktop computer at the office. Now, I can work from a coffee shop, from home, or even while traveling. This flexibility has been incredibly valuable, especially when I was preparing my university applications and needed to work on them during lunch breaks or after hours.

I also appreciate that my laptop has allowed me to develop new skills that would have been difficult otherwise. For example, running Python scripts, analyzing large datasets, and using design tools for marketing materials — all of these require computing power that a phone or tablet simply can't provide.

If I had to give up one piece of technology, my laptop would be the very last thing I'd let go of.

💡 Từ vựng nổi bật: arguably (có thể nói là), versatility (tính đa năng), compressed into (nén vào), tied to (bị gắn với), let go of (từ bỏ)

CUE CARD 7: Describe a book that has influenced you.

You should say:
– What the book is
– When you read it
– What it is about
– And explain how it has influenced you

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, which I read about a year ago and it completely changed my approach to self-improvement.

The book is about the power of small, daily habits and how they compound over time to produce remarkable results. The central idea is that you don't need to make dramatic changes — instead, you should focus on getting just 1% better every day. Clear uses fascinating examples from sports, business, and psychology to illustrate how tiny changes in behavior can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

What influenced me most was the concept of "habit stacking" — attaching a new habit to an existing one. After reading this, I started waking up 30 minutes earlier and immediately studying English using Anki flashcards, followed by listening to BBC podcasts during breakfast. These small additions to my morning routine have significantly improved my English over the past several months.

The book also taught me about the importance of systems over goals. Instead of just setting a target like "pass IELTS 6.5," I built a daily system: 15 minutes of vocabulary, 30 minutes of listening, and 30 minutes of writing practice. This systematic approach has been far more effective than simply hoping to reach a score.

I've recommended this book to several friends and colleagues, and I plan to re-read it when I start my Master's program in the US.

Từ vựng nổi bật: compound (tích lũy), remarkable results (kết quả đáng chú ý), habit stacking (xếp chồng thói quen), systematic approach (cách tiếp cận có hệ thống), self-improvement (phát triển bản thân)

CUE CARD 8: Describe a place you would like to visit.

You should say:
– Where it is
– How you learned about it
– What you would do there
– And explain why you would like to visit it

(Mô tả nơi bạn muốn đến thăm.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'd like to talk about Auburn, Alabama in the United States, which I'm actually planning to visit this July.

I first learned about Auburn through my wife's sister, who has been living there for several years. She lives right across from Auburn University, and she's told us so much about the area — the beautiful campus, the friendly Southern hospitality, and the surprisingly affordable cost of living compared to other parts of the US.

When I visit, there are several things I'd like to do. First and foremost, I want to visit Auburn University at Montgomery, where I'm hoping to enroll in their Master's in Artificial Intelligence program. I'd like to see the campus, meet with professors, and get a feel for the academic environment. I also want to explore the city itself — visit local restaurants to try Southern American food, drive around the residential areas where we might live, and check out the local schools for my daughter.

The reason I'm so eager to visit is that this trip will essentially be a reconnaissance mission for our family's future. Moving to another country is a huge decision, and seeing the place in person — rather than just reading about it online — will help us make a more informed choice.

I'm both excited and nervous about this visit. It could be the beginning of an entirely new chapter in our lives.

Từ vựng nổi bật: Southern hospitality (lòng hiếu khách miền Nam), affordable (giá phải chăng), first and foremost (trước hết), get a feel for (cảm nhận), reconnaissance mission (chuyến khảo sát), new chapter (chương mới)

CUE CARD 9: Describe your ideal home.

You should say:
– Where it would be
– What it would look like
– What rooms/features it would have
– And explain why this would be your ideal home

(Mô tả ngôi nhà lý tưởng của bạn.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

My ideal home would be a modest two-story house in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Alabama, near my wife's sister's home.

It wouldn't need to be extravagant — maybe around 150 square meters with a small front yard and a backyard. On the ground floor, I'd want a spacious open-plan kitchen and living room where our family could gather. Having an open kitchen is important to me because in Vietnamese culture, cooking and eating together is how we bond as a family. I'd also want a small home office where I could study and work on AI projects.

Upstairs, there would be three bedrooms — one for my wife and me, one for our daughter Mẫn Nhi as she grows up, and a guest room for when family visits from Vietnam. Each bedroom would have large windows to let in natural light.

The most important feature would be a good internet connection — as someone working in digital marketing and studying AI, fast and reliable Wi-Fi is absolutely essential! I'd also love to have a swimming pool in the backyard, since swimming is the exercise that suits me best.

What makes this my ideal home isn't the size or luxury — it's the sense of stability and safety it would provide for my family as we build a new life in America.

💡 Từ vựng nổi bật: modest (khiêm tốn), extravagant (xa hoa), open-plan (không gian mở), bond (gắn kết), sense of stability (cảm giác ổn định)

CUE CARD 10: Describe an achievement you are proud of.

You should say:
– What the achievement was
– When it happened
– How you achieved it
– And explain why you are proud of it

(Mô tả thành tích bạn tự hào.)

✅ Model Answer — Band 6.5:

I'm particularly proud of building CareerLink's content marketing system from scratch over the past 14 years.

When I first joined the company in 2012, there was virtually no content strategy. The website had basic job listings but no career advice, no industry insights, nothing that would attract organic traffic from search engines. I saw an opportunity and proposed creating a comprehensive content marketing and SEO strategy.

Over the years, I developed a system that now produces hundreds of high-quality career articles, optimized for search engines, that attract millions of visitors every year. I built processes for keyword research, content planning, writing, editing, and publishing. More recently, I've even incorporated Python automation and AI tools to streamline the entire workflow.

What I'm most proud of isn't just the traffic numbers — it's the impact. Our articles genuinely help Vietnamese job seekers make better career decisions. We've received messages from readers saying our advice helped them land their dream job or negotiate a higher salary. That's incredibly fulfilling.

This achievement also gave me the confidence to aim higher. It proved that I could build something meaningful through persistence and continuous learning — which is exactly the mindset I'll need when I pursue my Master's degree in AI in the US.

Looking back, I started with zero knowledge of SEO and ended up leading a team and building a system. If that's not growth, I don't know what is.

Từ vựng nổi bật: from scratch (từ con số 0), organic traffic (lượng truy cập tự nhiên), incorporated (tích hợp), fulfilling (thỏa mãn), persistence (sự kiên trì), mindset (tư duy)
